Live performance of Red Oak Blues by the Fred Boyle Trio with Bruce Abbott. This was the first performance of the song when it was still in "rough draft" mode and did not yet have an interlude section. Recorded at Harvest Gallery Wine Bar in Dennis, Massachusetts, USA. Fred Boyle (piano), Rich Hill (bass), Steve Langone (drums) and Bruce Abbott (soprano sax).
About this piece: Here on Cape Cod many of our oak trees have been badly damaged by winter moths and gall wasps. A beautiful large red oak stood behind our house and was showing signs of stress. It was a little too close to the house for comfort and we sadly decided to take it down. This song is a tribute to that tree which provided us with beauty and shade for 28 years.
