About this piece: This is a song about driving. I grew up in the mill town of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I remember as a child going with my mom to pick up my father at the textile mill where he worked. The wheels of the machinery went non-stop day and night. My father's work was very repetitive. Later, in my teenage years once I had my driver's license, I would take long drives through the city and out into the surrounding and more rural suburbs. The repetition of the sounds of the urban environment stayed with me but were softened by the back roads I would eventually find myself driving along.
If you perform or record my music please give it proper credit and inform me of the performance or recording. Any video and/or audio links as well as copies of concert programs will also be much appreciated!
