The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 resulted in lots of time alone due to gig cancellations and the requests of public health officials. It seemed like the perfect time to record an album of music for socially distanced saxophone! "Beneath the Stars", recorded by Bruce in his home studio, includes works for solo saxophone as well as a duet and a quartet made possible by the technique of overdubbing.
The collection includes two of Bruce's original compositions. "Five Vignettes for Solo Saxophone" is dedicated to his former student, Abby Pollock. And "Simpático", a saxophone quartet, is dedicated to his former student Nick Suchecki and The Cape Cod Sax Quartet.
